Now enrolling students for the VPK 2021-2022 school year!

Kindergarten Readiness Skills:

When a child completes the VPK program, a screening is administered during the first 30 days of kindergarten. The screening measures alphabet and sound recognition, listening, comprehension, and vocabulary.

Once the children from a particular school are screened, the school is assigned a “Kindergarten Readiness Rate”. Officials determine the rate using a 100-point scale and matching each kindergarten student’s screening scores to where he or she attended Pre-K.

We are very pleased to announce that The Learning Center Preschool receives a very high score every year on the Readiness Rate. Please visit the website at

Our hope is that every child leaves our school with a solid foundation on which knowledge and positive self-esteem can grow and flourish.

The goal of our pre-kindergarten team is to welcome each family to their classroom and foster a sense of security by taking the time to learn the personalities and likes of each child. This approach ensures students and parents that they are in a safe and nurturing pre-kindergarten environment surrounded by experienced teachers who love them.

Students who join our pre-kindergarten class will be given the opportunity to explore the world around them via our indoor and outdoor classroom settings. By the end of the pre-kindergarten year, our students would have been exposed to the Florida Department of Education’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Standards as well as the goals and objectives found in the Creative Curriculum for Preschoolers.

Some of the learning activities and goals in our pre-kindergarten classrooms include: developing pro-social behavior through positive interaction with their classmates and teachers, emergent reading and writing, calendar math, one -to-one correspondence, color recognition and review, geometrical shapes, the opportunity to express their maximum level of creativity through art and more.
